ValheimSkill Calculator

Work out the XP between any two skill levels, and exactly what a death costs you. The curve is steep at the top, which is why dying at level 80 hurts far more than dying at 20.

What a death costs

A hard death takes 5% off every skill and resets progress toward the next level. It is a percentage, so the higher you are the more you lose.

Dying again within 10 minutes of your last death costs no skill levels at all. If you are about to make a risky corpse run, doing it inside that window is free.

Why the last levels take so long

Each level costs xpToNextLevel(level) = floor(level+1)^1.5 * 0.5 + 0.5, so the price of a single level keeps climbing. The last ten levels cost more than twice what the first forty do put together.

Every skill levels on its own curve: the XP for the next level is xpToNextLevel(level) = floor(level+1)^1.5 * 0.5 + 0.5. That means each level costs more than the last, and taking one skill from 0 to 100 is about 20,301 XP in total. Read from Valheim 0.221.12 game files.
