Every figure is read out of the game's own recycler, not copied off a wiki. A recycler pays back part of an item's crafting recipe, and it does it in two separate ways: scrap comes from the blueprint's own scrap value, while each other ingredient pays out its recipe amount times the machine's efficiency. The scrap in a recipe is never handed back at all. This tool models both paths, so the numbers still line up after Facepunch retunes something.

The part most calculators skip is which recycler you walk to. Safe-zone machines at Outpost and Bandit Camp run at 40%, monument ones at 60%, and scrap is scaled off an older 50% baseline, so radtown pays half again as much for the same pile and ticks faster while doing it. Worn guns and armour pay out in proportion to the durability left on them, and components that are themselves recyclable can be fed straight back in, which the tool will follow all the way down to raw metal.
