Valheim Achievements List: All 53 Unlocks Explained
Every Valheim achievement in one place: all 53 unlocks grouped by how you earn them, the cheat-flag rules that block progress, and a smart order for clearing them all.
The Valheim achievements list holds 53 achievements, and every one is broken down below by how you actually earn it. Steam and Xbox carry the same 53, from boss kills and 500-tree grinds to dying in silly ways on purpose. You’ll also get the rules that quietly block unlocks and a sensible order for clearing the whole set.
Chasing all 53 with a crew is far easier on a persistent world, and Physgun’s Valheim server hosting gives you one. A normal co-op world only stays up while the host is playing.
How Valheim Achievements Work In 1.0
Valheim had no achievements until 1.0 launched on September 9, 2026. A few rules from Iron Gate’s FAQ and hotfix notes decide whether your progress counts.
- Tracking starts at your 1.0 install: The game counts statistics from the moment you download 1.0. Bosses you beat in early access earn nothing, and Xbox follows the same rule. Your old world and character still load fine, you just redo the kills.
- Cheat commands flag the save: Iron Gate says most cheat commands (spawn is their example) mark your character and the world save as locked out. A confirmation step guards the door, and freefly is a named exception. Characters that used cheats before 1.0 were marked from day one.
- Cheated items flag you temporarily: Anything spawned by a cheat carries a visible mark. Carry one and you’re in a temporary cheat state until you throw every marked item out.
- Some world modifiers count too: Iron Gate says hammer-mode counts as a temporary cheat. It says other modifiers block certain achievements too, but hasn’t published the list.
- Steam got an opt-in: Hotfix 1.0.12 added a devcommand for players blocked by earlier devcommand or mod use. You type
yesiuseddevcommandsbutiwantmyachievementsanyway, and Iron Gate leaves the honesty to you. Other platforms were promised the same fix shortly, so check your platform’s current patch notes.
On Xbox, 16 of the 53 show as secret until you earn them, including all eight boss unlocks. The tables below spell every one out.
All 53 Valheim Achievements By Category
Each unlock is grouped by how you earn it, with the wording paraphrased from the Steam and Xbox lists. Where Iron Gate hasn’t published the numbers, the notes say so.
Progression And Boss Kills (9)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| I Have Arrived! | Enter the world, which the game calls the tenth one. Expect it in your first session. |
| Eikthyr | Defeat Eikthyr in the Meadows (Steam nickname: Lightning Stag). |
| The Elder | Defeat The Elder in the Black Forest (Living Forest). |
| Bonemass | Defeat Bonemass in the Swamp (Writhing Dead). |
| Moder | Defeat Moder in the Mountains (Dragon Mother). |
| Yagluth | Defeat Yagluth on the Plains (Twisted Soul). |
| The Seeker Queen | Defeat The Queen in the Mistlands (Crawling Matriarch). |
| Fader | Defeat Fader in the Ashlands (Emerald Flame). |
| Kall Fimbulbringer | Defeat Kall Fimbulbringer in the Deep North (Shackled One). |
The game files confirm the boss ladder. Eikthyr through Fader are seven bosses in a fixed order, and Kall Fimbulbringer (three phases in the files) is the eighth. Tick them off with Physgun’s free Valheim boss checklist, built from the real game files.
Boss Milestones (6)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| The Viking | Fell every boss, any difficulty. |
| The Tough Viking | Fell every boss on Normal or higher. |
| The Toughest Viking | Fell every boss on Hard. |
| Odin is Pleased | Defeat all minibosses. |
| Stronger Together | Take down a boss alongside another player. |
| Lone Wolf | Take down a boss solo. |
The three Viking unlocks are a difficulty ladder. By their wording, one all-Hard boss run clears all three. That’s the efficient route.
Stronger Together and Lone Wolf pull in opposite directions, so plan two separate kills. Bosses can be summoned again at their altars, which makes staging both easy.
Iron Gate doesn’t list the minibosses for Odin is Pleased. Hildir’s three chest bosses (Brenna, Geirrhafa, and Zil & Thungr) are the obvious candidates.
Death And Survival (6)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| The First of Many | Die once. |
| Accidents Happen | Get killed by a tree. |
| That Can’t Be an Accident | Get killed by each type of tree. |
| Obliterated | Die to an explosion (the in-game hint jokes about standing too close). |
| Are You Alright? | Die in every way the game can kill you. No list is published. |
| The Survivor | Stay alive for 30 consecutive days. |
Bank the deaths early. The game files set skill loss on death at 5%, not the 25% many wikis quote, so dying is cheapest while your skills are low. The hard-death cooldown is 600 seconds, so deaths chained inside ten minutes don’t stack the loss.
Finish every death before you start The Survivor, since a 30-day streak presumably dies with you. Valheim’s in-game days last about 30 real minutes by default, so if the streak counts those, expect roughly 15 hours of play.
Counters You Fill Over Time (6)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| The Lumberjack | Fell 500 trees. |
| The Cook | Cook 100 dishes. |
| The Farmer | Harvest 500 crops. |
| The Forager | Gather 250 berries plus 250 mushrooms. |
| The Beekeeper | Collect 500 honey. |
| No Adventuring On an Empty Stomach | Eat 500 food items. |
Start these on day one. Per the game files, a Beehive needs a Workbench, 10 Wood, and a Queen Bee. Grab one early and let the honey pile up while you do other things.
Cooking, farming, and eating overlap heavily. One working kitchen garden feeds The Cook, The Farmer, and the 500-meals unlock at once.
Collections And Crafting (10)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| The Hunter | Take down one of every creature type. |
| The Master Hunter | The same creature sweep, on Hard. |
| The Trophy Collector | Collect every trophy. |
| The Fisherman | Land every species of fish. |
| A Catch Worthy of Njord | Land a four-star fish. |
| The Blacksmith | Craft one of every weapon type. |
| The Artisan | Craft one of every item type. |
| The Master Chef | Cook every dish in the game. |
| The Gourmet | Eat one of every edible thing. |
| The Chosen One | Assemble Dyrnwyn. |
Treat these as checklists. Physgun’s free creature database and item database list everything from the game files, trophies included. The crafting calculator prices every recipe, and the food planner covers the dishes and edibles for Master Chef and Gourmet.
The files list 149 creature entries, but variants pad that number. Iron Gate’s own definition of every kind is the real target.
The Chosen One is a genuine project. The game files assemble Dyrnwyn at the Black Forge (level 4) from three fragments (hilt, blade, and tip), 20 Flametal, a Bloodstone, and a Flametal Battle Idol.
Building And Comfort (7)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| The Homesteader | Build a house. |
| The Architect | Build a village. |
| The Builder | Put down 500 build pieces. |
| Mighty Halls | Put up a very tall structure. |
| Top of the World | Build something at serious altitude. |
| The Carpenter | Build everything. |
| Comfort is King | Hit comfort level 20. |
Comfort comes from distinct furniture near a fire under a roof. Repeats of the same piece don’t add up, so variety beats volume.
Mighty Halls and Top of the World have no published numbers. The wording suggests one is about the height of the structure and the other about the altitude of the site. Build tall on high ground and you’ll likely cover both.
For The Carpenter, the extracted piece list runs to 549 entries, plants and variants included. What counts as everything is Iron Gate’s call.
Sea And Exploration (7)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| The Explorer | Journey far out in all four compass directions. |
| The Pathfinder | The same four-direction trek with the map put away. |
| The Sailor | Log enough sailing distance to lap the world twice. |
| The Captain | Log one full lap of the world while standing at the helm. |
| The Treasure Hunter | Find 10 buried treasure chests. |
| No Time For Snoozing | Wake a sea creature. |
| The Legends Are True | Sail off the edge of the world. |
Do the Pathfinder trip first. It’s the stricter version, so one no-map expedition should cover The Explorer too. The same logic applies at sea. Man the helm for both laps, and Captain and Sailor should line up if the game counts distance the same way.
If your server hiccups on a big voyage, the panel’s Live Server Profiling shows CPU, memory, and tick time in real time. You’ll see quickly whether the server is the problem.
The Two Capstones (2)
| Achievement | How To Unlock |
|---|---|
| Kings and Queens of Valheim | Earn The Viking, The Hunter, The Artisan, The Master Chef, The Carpenter, and The Explorer. |
| Child of Odin | Earn The Toughest Viking, The Master Hunter, The Survivor, and The Pathfinder. |
Ten of the 53 feed these two, which leaves 41 stand-alone unlocks. Kings and Queens is pure completion. Child of Odin demands a playstyle: Hard difficulty, 30 days alive, and no map.
A Practical Order For Clearing All 53
Here’s the route that wastes the least effort.
- Check your character and world are clean. No cheat history, no hammer-mode. Everything else is wasted if the save is locked.
- Pick your difficulty at world creation. Three unlocks are difficulty-tied, and two need Hard. The game’s text says hard difficulty without naming the exact setting, so confirm it in game.
- Farm the deaths before skills grow. Chain them inside the 10-minute cooldown, then never die on purpose again.
- Start the slow burns immediately. Beehive, kitchen garden, and a cooking log all tick in the background.
- Take the no-map expedition early. Pathfinder is easiest before you’ve charted anything.
- Split your boss kills. Take a friend for the first, then re-summon one and go alone.
- Save the long crafts and capstones for last. Dyrnwyn, the collection sweeps, and the two capstones close the run.
Earning Achievements On A Dedicated Server
Achievements are earned by each player, but the cheat flag lands on the world save as well as the character. On a shared server, one careless command can taint the whole world.
Oh, and a dedicated server fixes the other big co-op headache. Nobody has to be the host, so friends on different schedules can keep grinding the same world. Stronger Together just needs two of you online for the same boss.
To keep the world clean:
- Keep the admin list short. Edit adminlist.txt in the panel’s File Manager, or pull it over SFTP Access if you prefer a local editor.
- Back up before anyone experiments. Physgun’s automated Backups give you a clean restore point, because the flag is stored in the save.
- Test mods and commands on a scratch world. Iron Gate’s 1.0.12 note ties the block to devcommand or mod use, and it publishes no mod list. Valheim mods run on BepInEx, so try them somewhere disposable first.
- Check migrated worlds. Moving a local co-op world means copying its .fwl and .db files. If cheats ever touched that world, the flag comes along.
Physgun bills Valheim plans by hardware, not player slots, so a second scratch server costs nothing extra per player. Physgun’s Valheim server hosting sets up instantly, which makes a throwaway test world a few minutes of work.
Clearing All 53 Valheim Achievements
The Valheim achievements list looks huge, but it’s really three kinds of work: bosses and difficulty, long counters, and collection checklists. Keep the save clean of cheats, start the slow counters early, and bank your deaths before The Survivor run. One Hard playthrough covers the whole difficulty ladder, and the two capstones close themselves out.
If you’d rather not keep a host online for every session, Physgun’s Valheim server hosting keeps your world up whether or not the host is playing, with Backups running the whole time.
