RustTech Tree Calculator
Explore the real workbench tech trees. Click the items you want to unlock and the calculator lights up the cheapest path, counts every prerequisite once, and totals the scrap, then compares it against researching them at the table.

Scrap costs and every tech-tree path come straight from the game data and re-derive each wipe. Facepunch rebalances the trees between updates, so treat these as a planning guide. Data verified July 2026.
How accurate is this Rust tech tree calculator?
Every scrap figure is solved straight from the game's own tech trees. Each workbench is a graph of unlock nodes, and reaching an item means unlocking a connected path to it, so the tool runs a shortest-path search over the real nodes and adds up the cheapest way in. Nothing is hand-typed, so the numbers re-derive themselves every wipe.
Unlock several items at once and it does the part players get wrong by hand: the shared prerequisites are counted only once. An AK and a rocket share almost the entire Workbench 3 spine, so the honest total is far lower than adding their two paths together. It also shows the research table cost side by side, since sometimes finding the item and researching it is the cheaper route.
