RuneScape: Dragonwilds

How to Add Admins to Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server

Make yourself the owner of your Dragonwilds server, then give trusted players admin and kick, ban or unban players from the in-game Player List.

Dragonwilds has two roles that matter on a server. The owner can ban and unban anyone, online or offline, and can make other players admins. Admins can kick and ban players who are online, which helps when you are not around.

You need access to your server in the Physgun Gamepanel and a character in Dragonwilds. Before you start, launch the game, open Settings from the main menu and note the Player ID shown at the bottom of the menu. It is a long string of letters and numbers, so copy it carefully.

Set your Owner ID

  1. Open your server in the panel and select Server Options in the menu on the left.
  2. Type Owner in the Search box at the top of Startup Parameters.
  3. In the Owner ID field, replace the zeros with your Player ID.
  4. Select anywhere outside the field. A message confirms Startup variable successfully saved.

Restart and check

The server only reads your Owner ID when it starts, so restart it now.

  1. Select the arrow next to Stop at the top of the page.
  2. Select Restart.
  3. Select Yes, Restart Server. The server shows Starting and is back online in about a minute.
  4. Open Config Editor next to Startup Parameters. In DedicatedServer.ini, OwnerId now shows your Player ID.

The config editor lets you edit DedicatedServer.ini only while the server is offline. The game rewrites the file when it shuts down, so changes made while it runs would be lost.

Give a player admin

You give admin in the game, while the player is on your server.

  1. Join your server with the account whose Player ID you entered.
  2. Wait for the player you want to promote to join.
  3. Press Esc to open the pause menu and open the Player List.
  4. Select the menu button next to the player’s name.
  5. Choose Grant Admin.

To take admin away again, open the same menu next to the player and choose Remove Admin.

Your startup settings also have an Admin Password field. On the current game version, the game removes this setting from DedicatedServer.ini when the server starts, so give admin from the Player List instead.

Kick, ban and unban

The menu next to each name in the Player List is also where you deal with problem players:

  • Kick sends the player off the server. They can come straight back, so use it as a warning.
  • Ban keeps the player out until the owner lifts it.
  • To lift a ban, find the player on a further page of the Player List, where banned players are kept, and open the menu next to their name.

Dragonwilds has no chat commands or console commands for moderation, so all of this happens in the Player List.

If it does not work

  • You do not see Grant Admin, Ban or unban options. The Player ID in Owner ID does not match your account. Check it against the bottom of the in-game Settings menu, letter for letter. Save it again, wait for the saved message, and restart the server.
  • The server does not show up after a game update. Your game and the server need to run the same version. Restart the server so it updates, and update your game.
