Counter-Strike, the version players call 1.6, is Valve's team-based shooter from 2000. Terrorists plant a bomb or hold hostages, and counter-terrorists defuse, rescue or eliminate them. Rounds are short and you get one life: you buy weapons with money earned in earlier rounds, and a player who dies watches until the next one. It is still played mostly on community servers running custom maps and AMX Mod X game modes such as surf, zombie, deathrun, gun game and jailbreak.
