Breeding Pals is one of the best ways to obtain powerful companions with desirable passive skills. By placing a male and female Pal in a Breeding Farm with Cake, two parent Pals can produce a new Pal that inherits traits from both parents. Whether you’re trying to cross breed different pal species or breed the same species for stronger offspring, waiting for Eggs to hatch can take a long time. Fortunately, Palworld allows server owners to adjust breeding timers, letting you speed up or slow down the incubation process to match your preferred gameplay experience.
In this guide, we’ll show you how to change breeding time using the Physgun control panel and by editing your server’s configuration file.
Note: If you’d like to know what species comes from each Pal combination, we have a brand new tool to help you out! Check out https://physgun.com/tools/palworld-breeding-calculator
Changing Breeding Timers Using the Physgun Panel
If you’re a Physgun client, we make editing settings as easy as possible with every possible option displayed right there in the panel. To change breeding timers using Physgun:
-
Log into your Physgun game panel.
-
Stop your Palworld server.
-
Open the Palworld Settings tab in the left navbar.
-
Locate the PalEggDefaultHatchingTime option.
- By default, it should be set to 72 hours. Note that this reflects the number of real world hours it takes to hatch the largest, rarest eggs. Smaller and common eggs will hatch proportionately quicker.
-
Set the value to be either faster or slower depending on your needs. Set it to 0 for instant hatching.
-
Save your settings and restart your server.
Changing Breeding Timers Using the Config File
If you’re not a Physgun client, you can still change these settings pretty easily, but it’s not as clean of a process. To manually update the config file:
-
Stop your dedicated server.
-
Open your server files using an SFTP/FTP client or Windows File Explorer.
-
Navigate to Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini
-
If the file is already populated with settings, just add
PalEggDefaultHatchingTime=followed by the number of hours you want. -
If it’s empty, paste the following code block into the file and replace the setting value with the number of hours you want:
[/Script/Pal.PalGameWorldSettings]
OptionSettings=(PalEggDefaultHatchingTime=72)Once you’ve saved the file and restarted your server, every egg placed in a breeding farm will use the updated incubation timer, making it much easier to test different breeding strategies without waiting for long hatch times.
Conclusion
Changing breeding time in Palworld is a simple way to customize your server’s progression. Whether you’re trying to cross breed different species, optimize inherited traits, or simply spend more time exploring instead of waiting on Eggs, adjusting PalEggDefaultHatchingTime gives you complete control. Faster incubation means you can experiment with more breeding combinations, discover powerful offspring, and build the perfect team in far less time. With the Physgun panel, these changes only take a few clicks, while experienced server owners can always edit the configuration file directly.
